The Pro-Tech awning cover is a neat product that does work. It is everything it says it is, and is very flexible to put onto most-any RV awning (not sure if it fits other awnings, guess it depends). My awning fully retracted is almost 4-1/2" diameter, and it fits on it great. You just 'open the split cover up', position it over your awning, and release. Kinda like a cable-cover for bundling cables together for electronics. It appears to be some form of UV-stabilized TPO (Thermoplastic Oleofin) plastic, just like your decorative body panels, fenders, etc.Now...the reason I gave 3-stars, though I own a set of these, is that after considering costs, I am not sure if they are priced right. I paid $99 for mine, without shipping. I can get a new factory 16' awning fabric for $185 (as of last year). That roughly means, this thing is half the cost of a new awning fabric. If you keep your awning up 50-weeks a year, chances are your awning weather-guard will keep your awning alive for 2-4 years, at least (If you are like me, in the desert, then your awning will last for a decade or more before needing replacement).I picked this up because I use my RV awning a lot in the summer for sun-shade, and don't extend it hardly at all in the winter, and figured that it might help prevent weather-guard dry-rot up against the eave. Is it a gainer over just replacing it when it finally rips? Not sure yet...and won't be for years to come, but it seems like the UV protection of your weather-guard is the reason you buy this...not rain, so if you are in the Southeast or North, chances are, this won't do a lot of good for you. If you are in the Southwest or Desert (as I am), it might just give you a few years of respite from all the UV you get on your outdoor fabrics...that's my thinking, anyhow...I could be wrong...but man, do I hate putting on new awning fabric (4-hours, aching knees, hurting fingers, and dropped screws...stressful just thinking about it...and that doesn't account for the spring maintenance, either).

By R. Sutton
I installed this unit on my 30 foot travel trailer. The 5 sections covered my 20 foot awning and were easy to install. The sections are sturdy and fit well/The manufacturer recommends that you also purchase "clips"($5.95 including shipping) if you plan to travel with this unit on the awning. I won't. Not because I don't want to but because to install/reinstall the unit you need a ladder to reach the awning when it's in the `UP' position. So I remove it before travel and reinstall when I get it home. Good awning fabric protection - I recommend it if you plan to keep the RV for a few years.UPDATE: Couple of things. Manfacture claims "...Protects from all weather / Awning can be extended out with product in place for ease of removal..."1) Not so on my powered awning. The cover is too strong to allow the motors to extended the awning on my 2012 Cougar. 2) The cover does NOT keep rain (weather) from entering the rolled awning faberic and in fact the cover traps it there. Trapped water causes black mold/mildew. Not a deal breaker but I'll now keep it off the awning until spring/summer when it will protect against the Sacramento, CA sunshine and heat.Only 4 stars as I feel it's Sunshine/Heat/UV protection only.
